The short answer
RuneScape: Dragonwilds left Early Access and released in full on 15 September 2026. It launched the same day on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 — no staggered console rollout, and no "console version coming later" caveat.
Jagex's own 1.0 launch post, the Steam store page, the PlayStation Store listing, the Xbox store listing and the Nintendo store listing all give that date. It is the cleanest date in this batch: five sources, one value.

| 5 June 2026 | Jagex publishes the press release announcing the full launch for 15 September 2026, revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026. The Early Access start date has two values — here they are, side by side
This is the reason this page has a reconciliation block rather than a single line. Two published sources and one internal tracking entry, four days apart:
| Kind | Source | What it actually says | Value | Read |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First-party | Steam store page | Field label "Early Access Release Date" | Apr 15, 2025 | captured 2026-09-17 |
| First-party | Jagex 1.0 launch post | "In April 2025 we launched into Early Access" — a month, no day | April 2025 | captured 2026-09-17 |
| Secondary | Wikipedia | Infobox: "April 15, 2025 (early access)" | April 15, 2025 | captured 2026-09-17 |
| Unresolved | Batch tracking record | The underlying source is not stated | 2025-04-19 | recorded 2026-09-17 |
Swipe the table sideways to read every column
We are not adjudicating this. Jagex's own 1.0 post gives the month and not the day, so nothing first-party settles 15 April against 19 April. The two candidate explanations — a storefront listing date versus a servers-open date, or simply two different upstream records — cannot be distinguished from the material available on 2026-09-17. Both values stay here with their provenance and the date each was read; we do not average them, and we do not silently prefer the first-party one.
If you need a single date for a citation, the honest one is April 2025, because that is the only Early Access start that Jagex itself states.
What the 1.0 build added
- Console support. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions shipped at the same time as the full PC release, the first time a RuneScape title has launched on consoles.
- Crossplay. Jagex's launch material lists crossplay as new in the 1.0 build, with a world able to be enabled as crossplay each time it is hosted. See crossplay for what each storefront independently states. Note that the crossplay sentence is carried from the homepage's own citation of Jagex's launch material — the Jagex press release read this round (5 June 2026) announces the date and the platforms but does not reproduce that sentence, so it is graded first-party-inherited rather than re-read.
- The Scorned Wilderness. A new region that closes out the first main storyline.
- A version step to 1.0. The Early Access builds sat below 1.0; the badge used across this site is ◆ 1.0 · 2026-09-15.
How long was Early Access?
About seventeen months, from April 2025 to 15 September 2026. That figure is a subtraction across the two dates above, and it inherits the same four-day uncertainty as the start date — so treat it as "roughly seventeen months", not as a precision claim.
Sales
Jagex's 5 June 2026 press release, published three months before the full launch, reports more than one million copies sold. Wikipedia's sales section records 600,000 copies in the first week of Early Access. Note what that timing means: the one-million figure is Early Access sales, not launch-week or post-launch sales, and the two figures are different metrics over different periods. We print both with their dates rather than combining them, and we do not carry the million forward as a post-launch number.
What this page does not claim
We do not give a day-level Early Access start date, because no first-party page states one. We do not print a launch-day player count or a concurrent-player curve — there is no compliant source for either. And we do not forecast the post-launch roadmap: no dated content roadmap had been published at the time of this check.
